Welcome to the AHRMA Northwest web site
This web site is a supplement to the main AHRMA
web site, AHRMA OnLine. This site will expand on the AHRMA Vintage moto-cross
& trials calendar for the Northwest region, (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Northern
Nevada, and Mid to Northern California). Each event listed in the calendar sections
features a link to an expanded information page. These pages will include contacts,
directions/maps to the tracks, area lodging, and other information. This web site will
also feature pictures of the people and the machines that make the AHRMA Northwest region
great!

Point Arena Event Cancelled
The Pomo Tribal Council has cancelled this event. Rob and I know many of
you made vacation plans around this weekend, and the worst part for us is having to
disappoint so many people. I wish we could at least give a reason for the decision, but we
are not even sure what that reason is. All we can say is that the Tribal attorney got
involved with the contract Agreement in late March, and the next thing we knew in April we
were notified that they did not want to proceed.
Due to this sorry turn of events, we are bringing back the 2 day Tea Cup Trial event in
Point Arena on this same weekend, August 24/25. We ran this in 2012 and those who attended
had an excellent time, so some of you may wish to keep your vacation plans for this fun
event; please call either Rob or me for more information. Also, check out the calendar
page on the NW site soon for this event.

March NW Region Coordinator Report
(From the March 2013 Vintage Views)
Everyone had a good time at the Cycle Gear NW Region awards dinner.
Fortunately for those attending, the bar had several TV sets so we could follow the
Niners/Packers game. Many great raffle prizes were donated by George Gerstenberg from
Cycle Gear. Jerry Visman was the largest winner of raffle prizes. Could it be because he
was holding reams of raffle tickets? The money from the raffle goes back into the region.
We are happy that George announced Cycle Gear would again be the
sponsor for the 2013 NW Regional series. We appreciate the support our region has gotten
from George and Cycle Gear over the years.
Not much else to report, other than the season is rapidly approaching. First up is the
Oasis GP and trial on Sat. Mar. 30. The GP is composed of VMX bike and age classes. VMX
points are also given. The trial follows the GP. It is a fun event and we hope to see many
of you there.
Since there are many new members in the NW region, I would like to explain the grading
system. The AHRMA system is unique from any other racing organization. Race finishes and
championships are definitely a consideration, but observation of riders by grading
committees ultimately determines whether a rider should be moved up to a more competitive
skill level or moved back to a class in which he/she would be more competitive.
|

|
Please see 11.3 in the AHRMA handbook for a concise explanation of the
grading system. Every region has a grading committee. I am familiar with the NW Grading
Committee, so I can speak only of it. There are 15 members of the NW Grading Committee. No
decision is made by any one member of the committee. Three or more members are involved in
every decision.
If a rider believes he/she should be competing at a different ability level, they can
request to be observed at sign up at any region or national VMX. Two or more people will
observe that rider.
If a member has a request to be considered for a change in ability level, they must
contact a member of the NW Grading Committee. Do NOT make the request to Cindy Cowell, our
membership chairman.
I am listing members of the NW Grading members. Since there are 15 members, you will
probably know several of them. Feel free to contact anyone on the committee, they will
make your issues known to the other members of the committee.

February NW Region Coordinator Report
(From the February 2013 Vintage Views)
The Cycle Gear NW Region, Novation Lumberjack Series and Premier/Classic
Weekend schedules can be found in this issue, (and on the AHRMA NW web site). Ed Parsons
and I are dedicated to finding the best venues for our NW Region competitors.
First of all, we want to congratulate the class winners in the
2012 Cycle Gear NW Region and Novation Lumberjack series. We are looking forward to
seeing you defend your titles in 2013.
The much deserved 2012 Volunteer of the Year is awarded to John Gulliford. John has
volunteered to keep our regional points (1991) and the national points since 1992. We
appreciate the professional, albeit, thankless job he has done over the many years. I
would encourage everyone to express their gratitude next time you see John.
I must note that the promoters of most of our events in 2013 are AHRMA members and
competitors. They do this for their dedication to AHRMA. Debbie and Rob Poole are
promoting Oasis GP/Trial, Bodnar Ranch trial and VMX Regional/National, the trial and VMX at Pomo Reservation at Pt. Arena and the Bushey Ranch trial and VMX.
AHRMA members, Bill and Toma Rianda are instrumental in the SCRU club, who will be
promoting both Hollister races. Bill and Toma also work
many other races in the region in sign up and scoring.
Hannegan Speedway is promoted by the Mt. Baker
Motorcycle Club. AHRMA members Nancy and Brian Richards contribute a lot toward the
success of this event.
Rattlers Run has been a great event on another natural
terrain track under the guidance of AHRMA members Al and Bryan Anderberg. I might add that
AMA champion Joe Kopp usually makes an appearance and races with us.
Crooked River Ranch is promoted by the CRR Chamber of
Commerce. The lightning rod for this event is ARHMA member, Pete Fisher. All proceeds go
to the CRR Chamber of Commerce. The town enthusiastically turns out to volunteer for the
trial and VMX. They will also be hosting the Premier/Classic Weekend in Sept. We
always look forward to going to CRR.
Our new venue, Big K Ranch is promoted by Cliff and Venice Mee.
It is a beautiful area and we are looking forward to a long association with the owners of
the land. We thank Cliff for finding this venue for us.
Matt & Ginger Hilgenberg are promoting the two
day National Trial at the Boreal Ski Area at Donner Summit, CA. The AHRMA trustee
meeting is scheduled for the Monday following the trial (July 22). I encourage AHRMA
members to attend the meeting to observe and give their input in AHRMA policy. Rule
proposals are discussed and voted on at this meeting. The final rules vote will take place
at the trustee meeting at Barber in Oct.
What can I say about Honey Lake! It is a great venue.
Lise and Larry Wosick have leased the track to another dedicated couple. The Wosicks will
be guiding hands in our upcoming event.
We are looking forward to an exciting season in 2013 at great venues. Ed and I want to
thank each and everyone one of you, volunteers, promoters and competitors, who make our
region so successful.
